Bless the poor UPS man who has to walk his brown pants up this path.
Come rain, snow, sleet, the end of the world as we know it, he still has to grow an extendable arm to post mail to our box.
Mr. Richert did go out this afternoon to clear a path for the mail truck. Mr. Mailman saw him on his swing through the hood and flashed him a USPS thumbs up. We'll sure rest easy tonight.
There's a rock on High Knob in Virginia called Benjie's Rock.
Named after an Indian who used to scalp people.
Nice little bit of trivia to pull out of your pocket at a party.
Not that I'm complaining.
Have you ever tried to make a left turn out of a lot when you can't see around the 134-foot snow mountain on the corner?
I finished Widow for One Year last week and The Help today. I've just begun The Fourth Hand.
And I still actually read with prosody.
I can totally hear every single voice and word in my head!
I think 2nd grade reading workshop is totally working for me.
Gratitudes for today:
101: Friends - Camden and Benjy had friends over today to play. They played for 6 hours without a peep of discontent. Friends rock.
102: Aldi's for groceries. We're cutting the food bill in half here.
103: Mr. Richert is into hanging laundry in the basement on clothes lines he's rigged up. I admit that I thought this was crazy at first, but do love the way my clothes feel when I put them on. Less ironing. Less energy. It's sort of good in a way to be green.
104: The oil tank got filled today. That in itself isn't a gratitude, except that we've halved the heating bill with our freebie wood stove.
105: Diet Coke in a to-go cup with a straw
106: Sleeping till 8 a.m.
107: Hanging around Barnesey with Camden and Benjy today. And not buying anything.
108: Reading an email from a dear friend in Big Lick. Emailing her back. Like time never stopped when I moved away almost 8 years ago.
109: Finishing a wonderful book
110: Starting a promising book.
